  • Local Women Honoured
    Prince George's  Angelique  Levac and  Tana Woodward   are among a dozen  Northern  BC  businesswomen profiled  in a new book  call " Stories of 100  BC Women Entrepeneurs".  The publication features  inspirational stories of women  who have boldly ventured into the businessworld  blazing a path for others to follow . The book published by  the Women's Enterprise  Centre , is the first of its kind  featuring women of all ages ,business sectors and cultural  backgrounds,

  • Endako Mining Accident

    A 40 year old  male   suffered  injuries  after  apparently being crushed  by some form of piping at Endako Mines  in Fraser Lake  just before 10   morning .  BC Ambulance Dispatcher  David Suderman says the male  was  conscious  when he was medi-vacced  to PGRH. No word on the extent of his injuries.



  • Two In Custody Following Vehicle Rollover
    Two males are in custody in connection with a  single vheicle  rollover  on Highway 16 West ,half a kilometre East of Bednesti early this   morning.    The suspects weren't hurt .  Police later discovered the vehicle was stolen. 

  • Good Wanted on Canada -Wide Warrant
    A heads up from  Prince George mounties about an allegedly  violent man  wanted on a Canada  wide  warrant  for  suspension of parole . 24 year old Brian Joseph Good has a lengthy criminal record and should be considered violent . Good  is a native  male ,five-ten ,with a tatoo  on his left  hand of a triangle with the numbers 1-5-1  on it , a tatoo of a small cross  near his left  eye,and another one with  half a face,on the left side of his chest. Should you see  or  know  of  the whereabouts  of  Brian  Good , you're asked to call  the RCMP  or Crimestoppers.

  • Mayoral Nominations
    The nomination period closed Friday for the upcoming civic election.Four men are competing for the top spot. Eugene Fetterly, Dane Greenwell, Dan Rogers and Don Zurowski are all in the race for the Mayor's seat.
    The Deadline to submit papers closed yesterday, with Fetterly turning his papers in at the last moment.

  • Kinder Calendar (VIDEO)
    It's part of a province-wide effort to improve the lieracy levels for children before they head into the formal school setting. It may seem strange to hand out calendars to kindergaerten kids, but these calendar's are unique and offer opportunties and ideas for parents.

  • Council Nominations
    With just four hours to go before the nomination period closes, 18 people have offered their names for Councillor positions with the City of Prince George.  Only two of the 8 incumbents have not filed nomination papers.  Sherry Sethen announced earlier that she will not be running and Don Zurowski is instead running for the Mayor's seat.  Zurowski is joined by Dan Rogers and teenager Dane Greenwell in the Mayors race.   Nominations for Regional District Directors and School Trustees will also close at four this afternoon.

  • Portland Homeless Trip
    The Prince George delegation that  travelled to Portland  ,Oregon this week is  heading home with some   good  lessons  in developing sustainable  solutions to homelessness.  Mayor Colin Kinsley  calls the trip invaluable ,with a chance to see first-hand how Portland has battled  the  challenge of housing the homeless. In 2005, the city of Portland  began implementing  a community  development plan  with the  collaboration and cooperation of   key stakeholders in the community ,  Members  of the  Prince George  delegation will  hold  a news conference next Thursday  at  10 am, at  Active Support Against   Poverty  ,to discuss how  the Portland initiative  might help  our   housing strategy.

  • Green Radio
    99.3 The Drive  and 101.3 The River, is partnering with the David Suzuki  Foundation to make our world a greener place.  As part of the Jim  Pattison Broadcast group, this radio station has committed to airing  'The Suzuki Report' Mondays thru Friday's beginning this fall.  It's all in an effort to help you better  understand our impact on the 
    environment, and what we can do to improve things.

  • Job Stats For September
    A drop in the jobless numbers  in Prince George  and the Cariboo regions  last month.  The unemployment  rate dropped to 8.2  percent  from  8.7   in August.  The  unemployment rate in the Cariboo  slipped to 6.8 percent   from 7.2 .    BC's overall unemployment rate climbed to 4.6 percent  from 4.3  while   the national  rate  held steady at 6.1 per cent last month.   Statistics Canada is reporting the economy created 107-thousand jobs in September,with almost  all of the increases  in part-time work.
