  • Christmas Kettle Campaign Update
    The salvation Army Christmas Kettle had a very successful weekend, raising just over 17-thousand dollars. The total raised to date is almost 45 and a half thousand dollars. Volunteers are still needed, especially in the time period from 2 - 6pm everywhere, and outdoors on the weekends. To volunteer call 564-4000.

  • Jay Hill Reaction to Coalition
    The Conservative M-P for Prince George-Peace River is calling this coalition between the federal Liberals and NDP "lunacy." Jay Hill says the new government hasn't had a chance to get to work and the conspiracy kicked in. Hill says it's crazy to put the future of the country in the hands of the separatist Bloc Quebecois. Hill says Stephane Dion campaigned on a promise not to form a coalition government.

  • Interior Drive For Life Complete
    The Interior Drive for Life Blood Donor Challenge is over, and Prince George takes the title for the second year in a row over Kelowna. Our 10-week total to one-thousand five-hundred and forty-nine units of blood.  Canadian Blood services still needs donors, people are still encouraged to call 1-888-2-donate.

  • Cougars Head Coach Fired
    The Prince George Cougars announced they've fired Head Coach Drew Shoneck, effective immediately. Current Assistant Coach Wade Klippenstein will assume the head coaching responsibilities until a permanent replacement is made. general manager Dallas Thompson says in the past 7 weeks, the team has not taken a step forward in the goal of improving each day. He says the 10-18-0-1 record shows that.

  • 17 Million For Green Low-Income Housing
    Low-income families are getting help from the province to reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint. The Government is investing 17 million in energy efficiency retrofits for low-income housing, keeping more money in the pockets of British Columbians. The funding is part of the 60 million, three-year LiveSmart BC: Efficiency Incentive program. The first 4 million dollar project will target the completion of almost 2-thousand evaluations and retrofits. The typical cost is approximately 2-thousand per house or residential unit.

  • NDP Leader Rural Tour
    NDP leader Carole James is meeting with local community leaders throughout the day, launching the Rural Consultation Tour. She says the province needs to push the federal government to extend not only EI Benefits for forestry workers, but also need to push the feds on the Work Share program. James says the provincial Liberals have ignored the crisis in forestry way too long. Meanwhile, Forests Minister Pat Bell says James isn't citing facts. Bell says the province has been working very closely with the federal government to secure some help for forestry.

  • World AIDS Day Vigil Tonight

    A candlight vigil in honour of those who lost their lives to aids, gets underway at 5 this evening at  the Cultural Drop-In  Centre on Third Avenue , in recoginition of World Aids Day. Positive Living North HIV and Education Manager Jillian Nason says Northern BC is currently experiencing an epidemic among our aboriginal population. Positive Living North works to promote awareness, provide prevention education and workshops free of charge on an ongoing basis.



  • November Weather Stats
    No records established , but the month of November will  show a very mild and somewhat damper month  than  what we typically see in the Prince George  region .  Prolonged periods of above normal temperatures resulted in less snow,but more rainfall . Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele  says  the harsh realitry of winter will soon hit us however.
