Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

This was released as a Double A-side single with "Come Together." It was the only song written by George Harrison released as a single by The Beatles.

Harrison wrote this during a break while they were working on The White Album. It was not recorded in time for the album, so Harrison gave this to Joe Cocker, but Cocker didn't release it until after The Beatles did.

This seemed to be inspired by Harrison's wife, Pattie, but he claimed he did not have anyone in mind when he wrote it.

Harrison came up with the title after listening to a James Taylor song called "Something In The Way She Moves." Taylor was signed to Apple Records (The Beatles label) at the time.

Frank Sinatra called this "The greatest love song ever written."

At least 150 cover versions exist. James Brown's version was Harrison's favorite. The only Beatles song that has been covered more is "Yesterday." Harrison pictured Ray Charles on vocals when he wrote this. Charles did eventually cover it.

It is ... Something ... by The Beatles.

He's appealing the convictions and his three-year prison sentence.

Everyone was “all in” for a good cause. Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle were among the Hollywood types who gathered Wednesday in Las Vegas for a no-limit Texas Hold' em tournament benefiting victims of the humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan. Feminist groups criticized this song for objectifying women, although ZZ Top had been releasing songs with playful, yet sexually-charged lyrics for years. Their first hit was "Tush" in 1975, which was probably more offensive, but the band was less popular then so it drew fewer protests.

The video featured a vintage car and Playboy models.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

Joe Strummer wrote the lyrics about an Arab ruler who hates music, but is defied by the citizens and even his own air force. Strummer was inspired by a news report of Iranians who were flogged for owning Disco albums.

Clash Drummer Topper Headon wrote the music. Headon left the group shortly after this was released because of his heroin addiction. He was replaced by Tory Crimes, who was the original drummer for The Clash.

The US military used this as a rallying cry when they invaded Iraq in 1991.

When this became a hit, Joe Strummer considered leaving The Clash. He couldn't justify singing rebellious songs when the band was rich and successful.

Guitarist Mick Jones describes this song as the Clash moment he is most proud of.

The video was filmed in Austin, Texas.

It is ... Rock The Casbah ... by The Clash.
