Entertainment News This Morning: (Weekdays at 10:20am)

Fox doesn't have to worry about David Hernandez's past any more. He was the one kicked off ``American Idol'' last night. 29 million votes were cast. Showcasing the songs of Lennon-McCartney was a huge ratings grab for the show this week, so much in fact that next week's show will also feature the songs of Lennon-McCartney.

The jury is set to begin deliberations today in the John Ritter wrongful death lawsuit.

Yesterday, attorneys gave jurors drastically different views on whether anything could have been done to save the actor's life the night he died. The suit seeks 67 (m) million dollars in damages. Ritter was treated for what was diagnosed as a heart attack but actually died from the tear in his aorta.

Billy Crystal can make jokes. Billy Crystal can act. Billy Crystal can direct. But can Billy Crystal play baseball with the big boys? The lifelong Yankees fan is getting a chance to play an exhibition game at Legends Field today. Crystal worked out with the Yankees yesterday in Florida. Billy's got some game. He made contact on all 52 swings during batting practice and kept up with Derek Jeter during jogging drills. Crystal said he felt confident about the hitting and fielding part of the game, but it was the drug test that worried him.

Eddie Van Halen’s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli says reports about Van Halen being in rehab “are wrong. Eddie is sober.” Bertinelli did not reveal what prompted Van Halen to undergo medical testing and postpone the band’s tour dates until April 19th.

Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder is auctioning off second row seats, post-concert meet-and-greets and autographed posters on his upcoming solo tour. The proceeds are going to the defense fund of the West Memphis Three, a trio of young Arkansas men who have been jailed for more than a decade for murders they insist they did not commit. Information on how to place bids or donate straight to the fund itself can be found at wm3.org. Vedder begins his first-ever solo jaunt on April 2nd in Vancouver.

Sir Paul McCartney has signed up to be the face of a campaign against the proposed cull of up to 500 Kangaroos in Australia. Appearing in a video message for the welfare group Viva!, McCartney said that people must do all that they can to help prevent what he called a “shameful massacre”. Authorities say that the proposed cull on an Australian military base near Canberra is needed because the animals threaten other species.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

This is the most sentimental of all Gerry Rafferty's songs. It is about a man who dreams of owning a house and living away from his neighborhood, but he is a drunk, and cannot achieve that goal. He drinks to forget what he doesn't have, and never realizes he's a rolling stone with no direction.

Rafferty wrote the song with an instrumental break, but didn't have a specific instrument in mind. It was eventually filled by Raphael Ravenscroft's sax solo. Ravenscroft has played on records by Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, Abba, Alvin Lee and many others.

This was performed at the end of The Simpsons episode "Lisa's Sax," when she receives a new saxophone after her old one was destroyed.

Gerry Rafferty often stayed with a friend who lived on this strret in London.

One of the most famous residents from that area was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. He lived at 221-B Baker Street.

It is ... Baker Street ... Gerry Rafferty!

Entertainment News This Morning: (Weekdays at 10:20am)

T-V was about fun and games last week. Eight of the 13 top-ranked prime-time shows last week were competitions. Fox dominated the week because of ``American Idol.'' C-B-S was second, followed by N-B-C and A-B-C.

For the first time, the ``American Idol'' contestants were able to compete against each other with Lennon-McCartney songs. And if Simon Cowell had his way, maybe that wasn't such a good idea. He told David Hernandez his rendition of ``I Saw Her Standing There'' was corny, verging on desperate. Paula Abdul said flat-out she didn't enjoy Kristy Lee Cook's country version of ``Eight Days A Week.'' However, the judges raved over Chikezie's bluegrass version of ``She's a Woman.''

Was Mary Ann smoking dope behind the bushes on ``Gilligan's Island?'' Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann, is now serving six months' unsupervised probation after allegedly being caught with weed in her car. Wells was arrested in October as she was driving home from a surprise birthday party that was held for her.

Janet Jackson will watch ``Saturday Night Live'' from home rather than from the wings this week. Jackson has dropped out of her planned appearance on Saturday's show because she has the flu. No word at this point on replacement musical guest.

Led Zeppelin have donated a signed souvenir program from their reunion gig last December to a Welsh soccer club to help raise funds. It was sent to Aberystwyth Town by Robert Plant, and there are plans to auction it later this year. Tony Bates, chairman of the Welsh Premier League club, said he had known Plant for years and asked him for his help. The program comes with a picture of Plant and a letter of authenticity.

Of course on-air I butchered the name of Aberystwyth Town. Luckily Judy called with a correction.

Kid Rock held a meet-and-greet as a means of making amends with the Atlanta Waffle House where he was arrested last year. The event benefited an area homeless shelter.

Iron Maiden fans will be able to download the group’s 80s best of 'Somewhere Back In Time: 1980-1989', for free from their website. Users will only be able to listen to the high-quality tracks three times before the download expires, however. They will then have the option to buy the album free of copyright protection technology (DRM). The band said that they hoped the best of would introduce new people to their music. The album will be available via the bands website from May 12th

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

Its about a guy named Marty, a friend of lead singer Adam Duritz. Before Duritz joined Counting Crows, they were in a band together called The Himalayans. Marty's dad was in fact a Flamenco guitar player.

This was the first single released by Counting Crows and also their biggest hit.

This song refers to a dancing woman named Maria. This character appears in many of their songs. The identity of Maria has never been revealed, which leads many to believe that she is not a real person, but a symbol for loneliness, desire, or something similar.

A lot of people thought the song was a a reference to a character in the Bob Dylan song "Ballad Of A Thin Man." Dylan is mentioned the line "I want to be Bob Dylan, Mr. Jones wishes he were someone just a little more funky."

It is ... Mr.Jones ... Counting Crows ... on 99.3 The Drive.

Entertainment News This Morning: (Weekdays at 10:20am)

Even if the economy's bad, people still put aside money to go to the movies. It was true during the Great Depression in the 1930's and as another recession looms, studio executives say it could be true again. Even as people are tightening up on other expenses, movie attendance this year has been running ahead of 2007 numbers. The head of the Motion Picture Association of America says the cost of a movie ticket is cheaper than seeing a shrink. He says ``to go into a darkened room where nobody can find you for two hours is great therapy, particularly when times are bad.''

Filming has started again on the movie Heath Ledger had been making at the time of his death called ``The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.'' Even though Ledger had only shot some of his scenes, they happened to be live-action and realistic scenes. So, they will stay. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law are all replacing Ledger in scenes he hadn't shot yet where his character passes from contemporary London through a magic mirror into the imagination. Depp, Farrell and Law represent different aspects of the character Ledger was playing.

Heath Ledger's will doesn't include Michelle Williams or their daughter because it was never updated after they became part of his life. A copy of the three-page will has been filed in court in New York City. It shows Ledger left everything he had -- a reported 20- million dollars -- to his parents and three sisters.

Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is making it easier for real doctors to treat cancer patients. The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing in central Maine will open March 31st. It'll offer education and support programs for cancer patients and their families. Dempsey provided the seed grant for the new center. His mother was successfully treated for ovarian cancer at the hospital where the center is located.

In 1963, the Rolling Stones entered the I-B-C Studios in London for their first recording session. They recorded cover versions of songs by their rhythm-and-blues heroes -- Bo Diddley, Willie Dixon and Jimmy Reed. The recordings were never released.

In 1968, Otis Redding was awarded a gold single for ''(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay,'' three months after his death.

In 1993, a promoter announced that Paul McCartney was cancelling the remaining news conferences on his Australian tour because he was tired of answering questions about whether the surviving Beatles would reunite.

In 1997, Paul McCartney was knighted by the Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The tongue is on the tube. Gene Simmons is a guest on the "Rachael Ray Show" today and the third season of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" will premiere on A&E tonight with back-to-back episodes.

R.E.M. will stream their new album Accelerate in its entirety via “social music discovery service” iLike, which has a partnership with Facebook. The “Worldwide Listening Party” will go down March 24th, a week before the album is released to stores.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

The song title is also the name of a city in Nepal. Seger wrote this song in a humorous tone about his desire to disappear for a while after dealing with constant touring and record company politics.

It's used to represent a place far away where no one will bother you.

This is one of the highlights of Seger's Live Bullet album, which was released the following year. Known for powerful concert performances, Seger's career took off after the album was released.

This was used in the movie Last Fling, with John Ritter and Connie Selecca.

In the movie Mask, starring Cher and Sam Elliott, Eric Stoltz' character dreams of going to here with his good friend.

It is ... Katmandu ... Bob Seger!
