Some fresh scripted shows, along with the college basketball tournament on Saturday, have put CBS back on top of the ratings. Although Fox's ``American Idol'' and ABC's ``Dancing With the Stars'' dominated last week, more than 20 million people tuned into CBS for the return of ``CSI.''

Adam Carolla will have a lot more time to practice riding his unicycle. He was voted off ``Dancing with the Stars'' last night. He got the judges laughing by incorporating a unicycle into his dance routine. But they also gave him the lowest marks on this week's performance show. Carolla says he lost 25 pounds of fat while on the show.

Carly Smithson could be in trouble on ``American Idol.'' While the judges usually like this singer from Dublin, she didn't impress them last night. Simon Cowell thinks she sounded angry, but he did like the way she looked. Jason Castro was praised for his version of ``Somewhere Over the Rainbow'' and his ukulele playing that went along with it. David Archuleta was ``crazy hot'' according to Randy Jackson. Tonight is the ``Idol Gives Back'' charity special, with the results show tomorrow night.

Those born on April 9th share a birthdate with rock 'n' roll pioneer Carl Perkins (1932).

In 1997, Soundgarden, one of the leading bands in the grunge movement, announced it was breaking up after five albums that sold 20 (m) million copies. The band got together in Seattle in 1984, and shot to the top of the Billboard album chart a decade later with "Superunknown."

Also on this date in 1997, Mae Boren Axton, who co-wrote the Elvis Presley hit "Heartbreak Hotel," was found dead at her Tennessee home at 82.

R.E.M. moved 115,458 copies of “Accelerate” to take the number two slot, giving the boys from Athens, Georgia their highest chart position since 1996’s “New Adventures in Hi-Fi.”

We've told you about the Pemberton Festival this July, now there's word of another festival, the Virgin Festival which will take place in Toronto this September, Calgary June 21-22 and Vancouver at a soon to announced date. In Calgary, the Virgin Festival will feature headliners Stone Temple Pilots along with Matt Good and the Tragically Hip. Tickets for the Calgary Virgin Festival go on sale Saturday.

John Lennon helped write this. Bowie invited him to the studio, and Lennon played rhythm guitar on a jam session that resulted in this track.

Lennon actually came up with the title and sings some of the high parts in the background.

This was Bowie's first big hit in America, and also his first to do better in the US than the UK.

Bowie performed this on Soul Train. He is one of only a few white performers to appear on the show.

At the end of this song, the title is repeated 23 times, each being a different note spanning an amazing 4 octaves.

Actor Rob Lowe and his wife are suing their former nanny, claiming she told secrets and lies about their family. The complaint filed Monday in a Los Angeles Superior Court asks for at least $1 million in damages. It charges Laura Boyce with violating a confidentiality agreement, defamation and infliction of emotional distress on the actor, his wife Sheryl and two sons.

Pamela Anderson loves those cameras. She's getting her own reality show this summer on E!. We'll get to know the real woman behind the famous implants. The show will follow Anderson as she tries to juggle love, career and peace of mind. The series will focus on her and won't feature her two sons.

The top movie in theatres right now is “21.” Jeff Ma is the real guy who beat the system and won at blackjack in Las Vegas. He's played by Jim Sturgess in the movie ``21.'' Asked which was more lucrative, selling his story to Hollywood or winning in Vegas, it's not even close. Ma says they won up to five- (m) million dollars in Vegas. Selling his movie rights didn't come close.

Tom Cruise's upcoming movie about a real assassination plot against Hitler won't be released this year. ``Valkyrie'' was expected going to be in theatres October 3rd. Instead, it'll open next February. Moving it to early in the year basically takes the movie out of the running for most awards. Most films that are hyped for Oscars and other honours are released towards the end of the year.

Thanks to Bob Dylan, rock 'n' roll has finally broken through the Pulitzer wall. Dylan, the most acclaimed and influential songwriter of the past half century, who more than anyone brought rock from the streets to the lecture hall, received an honorary Pulitzer Prize on Monday. It was the first time Pulitzer judges, who have long favored classical music, and, more recently, jazz, bestowed the award on the world of rock.

The Police would prefer to do some good for the world rather than let premium concert seats go to scalpers. The group plans to auction front-row tickets and V-I-P packages for their summer tour and donate the money to the nonprofit group Unitus, which fights global poverty. The tickets will be sold through the site CharityFolks-dot-com. The first set of tickets go on sale this week.

The reunited Stone Temple Pilots announced the details of their sixty-five city summer tour yesterday at a press conference in Los Angeles. The tour, which will kick off May 17th in Columbus, Ohio, will roll on until November. If things go smoothly, guitarist Dean DeLeo predicted the band would start work on a new album, their first since 2001. The band also revealed they would make their return to late night TV with an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show on May 1st. At yesterday's press conference/private gig, STP performed “Plush.” Here's a clip ...

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

The question was commonly interpreted as Hendrix asking if you have tried drugs. He said that this song was not necessarily about drugs, but about being at peace with yourself.

Guitar, bass and drums were all played backward as part of the effects. The part at the beginning may have been ahead of its time, as it sounded a lot like the record scratching Hip-Hop DJs began using years later.

Hendrix played the piano on this.

Tributes poured over the weekend following the death of Charlton Heston. Heston was one of the biggest box office draws of the '50's and '60's and starred in such classic movies at the Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. Heston died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 84.

She was nominated in five categories and Feist has five awards to put on her mantle after a weekend of Juno celebrations in Calgary. After winning top artist and songwriter, she added single of the year, Album of the year and Pop Album of the year. Blue Rodeo increased its total for the weekend to three with `Group of the year'. Vancouver crooner Michael Buble took home the coveted Juno fan choice award.

``21'' still has the best hand at the movie theatres. The tale of the MIT blackjack team is number one for a second weekend. George Clooney's new comedy ``Leatherheads'' opens in a virtual tie for second. It and the new family fantasy ``Nim's Island'' both open with a little more than 13 (m) million each. ``Horton Hears a Who!'' was fourth this weekend.

We still have a few weeks before the new Indiana Jones movie opens. But if you're jonesing for Indy items now, you can order action figures, hats, statues and all kinds of other stuff. IndianaJonesShop.com is open now for business. There are the usual items, like DVDs, posters and t-shirts. But there's also a $42 fedora, modeled after the hat Indiana Jones wears. Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood has said a Faces reunion “could happen”. The guitarist quit the band in the mid-seventies to join the Stones instead, but has responded to reports the Rod Stewart fronted band could get back together by saying a reunion is a possibility - if they find the time. Drummer Kenny Jones last year claimed a reunion had "every chance of happening".

The lead singer of the British band Procol Harum won an appeals court judgment Friday awarding him the full royalties to "A Whiter Shade of Pale." Britain's Court of Appeal ruling for Gary Brooker overturned a lower court decision granting the group's former organist 40 percent of the millions of dollars in royalties from the song. The appeals court agreed Matthew Fisher, who played the haunting organ theme, was entitled to co-authorship but said he will receive no money from past or future royalties.

It's been 20 years since the North American chart debut of Midnight Oil's landmark album “Diesel and Dust,” and in celebration, an expanded edition of the album will be released May 6th. It will include the long-lost 11th track "Gunbarrel Highway," which was banned from North American editions of the album because of the profanity, aw well as a bonus DVD of a 1987 Tour documentary.

According to Bon Scott's biographer Clinton Walker, this tongue-in-cheek song "has become an anthem."

This song is unusual because instead of a lengthy guitar solo it features interplay between Angus Young on lead guitar and Bon Scott who was a proficient bagpipe player.

The band made a video to promote the single and the album. This was filmed while riding through the center of Melbourne on an open topped truck accompanied by 3 members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band.
