Entertainment News This Morning: (Weekdays at 10:20am)

You've got a better chance of getting on ``America's Got Talent'' if you're not already in the entertainment business. Simon Cowell says he's not interested in someone who's been ``a backup singer for 15 years and is a bit bitter and goes 'I want a chance.''' While Cowell is a judge on the British version of the show, he's a behind-the-scenes producer on the North American version. He thinks he's ``possibly happier producing shows'' than being on them. The third season of ``America's Got Talent'' starts tonight on N-B-C.

Although the Screen Actors Guild hasn't taken a strike-authorization vote, Variety says there are fears of a strike. The smaller of the two actors unions, AFTRA, has forged a deal with producers and members will be voting soon whether to approved it. But, after weeks of negotiations, SAG still hasn't come to terms with producers. Their contract runs out June 30th. Striking Hollywood writers walked for 100 days, returning in February.

Still reeling from Tim Russert's death, N-B-C News must now contemplate replacing the man who not only dominated the Sunday morning talk shows, but served as chief political commentator and ran the Washington bureau. The ``Meet the Press'' host had what was arguably the most important and far-reaching job in television news, particularly in an election year. N-B-C has potential successors to Russert on ``Meet the Press'' already within the company. ``Hardball'' host Chris Matthews is the best-known internal candidate, while Washington hands David Gregory and Andrea Mitchell -- though lesser-known -- fit into the objective reporting format.

In 1972, keyboardist Ron (Pigpen) McKernan played his final gig with the Grateful Dead at the Hollywood Bowl. He died the following March of alcohol-induced liver failure and internal bleeding.

In 1978, Grace Slick's alcoholism prevented her from going on stage with Jefferson Starship at a concert in Germany. Fans rioted. Slick left the Starship two days later.

In 1997, Ozzy Osbourne cancelled his solo set and his reunion with Black Sabbath scheduled for an "Ozzfest" tour stop near Columbus, Ohio. Osbourne claimed he had lost his voice. Disappointed fans set fires and damaged the outdoor facility.

Led Zeppelin were named the best live act of the last twelve months at a music awards ceremony in London last week. The band was honoured for their much anticipated reunion show. Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were on hand to collect the award.

Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to late NBC journalist Tim Russert during his concert on Saturday night in Cardiff, Wales. Russert died on Friday of a sudden, fatal heart attack at age 58. Springsteen spoke fondly about Russert. Russert had been a die-hard Springsteen fan, and while booking local concerts in his university days, Russert booked Springsteen and the E Street Band back in 1974. Over the years Russert had repeatedly asked Springsteen to appear on his NBC Sunday morning program “Meet The Press,” but Springsteen always politely declined.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

The lyrics are a bleak picture of life in New York City.

The last song on Some Girls. While they were recording this album, Keith Richards had drug charges hanging over his head from a bust in Toronto. Facing a maximum sentence of life in prison, Keith let Mick take control of the album, which is reflected on songs like this.

Richards came up with the guitar riff on this and the line "Sha-doobie." Jagger wrote the rest.

Just after this was released, The Stones performed it on Saturday Night Live. It was not a great performance, as the band had some libations backstage before they went on, but was memorable for Mick Jagger licking Ron Wood on the lips for about 5 seconds. This stuff just didn't happen on TV back them.

When Jagger sings, "Shmatta, I can't give it away on 7th Avenue, this town's been wearing tatters," he's making reference to the fashion district of New York City, which is on 7th Avenue. The word "Shmatta" is slang for old, worn clothing.

It is ... Shattered ... by the Rolling Stones.

``The Incredible Hulk'' opened at number-one -- with an estimated 54.5 million dollars in ticket sales over the weekend. ``Kung Fu Panda'' drops to second. ``The Happening'' starring Mark Wahlberg opens at a solid number-three. ``You Don't Mess With the Zohan'' and the latest ``Indiana Jones'' movie round out the top 5.

Oprah Winfrey told Stanford University graduates to ``follow their hearts'' and be open to the lessons of life at the school's 117th commencement yesterday. Delivering the commencement address, Winfrey reflected on what true success really means.

The painting that U2 has had hanging in their studio in Dublin for 19 years is going to be sold. The painting is by American artist Jean Michel Basquiat (BAHS'-kee-aht) and it looks like a ritual mask covered in doodles. Sotheby's will auction it off in London on July 1st and it's expected to bring in more than 7 million dollars. U2 bassist Adam Clayton saw it in a New York art gallery, and the band bought it in 1989.

Kiss star Gene Simmons has ruled out ever inviting former bandmates Peter Criss and Ace Frehley back onstage with him - because they're not fit enough to cut it live. Criss and Frehley joined Simmons and frontman Paul Stanley in three separate Kiss incarnations, but the bass player insists they won't be back for a third reunion run.

Paul McCartney has played what was billed as the biggest concert event ever in Ukraine. Thousands of people stood in heavy rain and thunder Saturday to see McCartney perform a charity concert in Kiev. The show was broadcast live on national television and on giant screens in five cities. Organizers say the money raised will be spend on diagnostic equipment to help child cancer patients.

The title refers to the song structure. The 'B' stands for Tony Banks' part, the 'C' for Phil Collins' part, as they wrote the song.

The first Top-10 hit for Genesis in the US.

Before a reunited Genesis set out for their 2007 tour, Rolling Stone magazine asked Collins if any songs didn't make it past rehearsal. His reply: "That happened with "Abacab," which I'm sure everyone expects us to do. Halfway through the first verse, I said, 'I don't really want to sing this. I don't know what it's about.'"

It is ... ABACAB ... by Genesis.

Three members of the Faces -- Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones -- will get together next month to talk about the possibility of reuniting. Stewart says they will meet on July 3rd to "see whether it's possible... We're definitely going to have a rehearsal together and see if we can still cut it, which I'm sure we can. We're making the first step. Maybe we'll just do a charity gig and see how it goes." Rounding out the line-up is keyboard player Ian McLagan. Bass player Ronnie Lane died in 1997.

It's not just the less than favorable reviews of their live return that might have members of Stone Temple Pilots now regretting their decision to reunite, it's the fact that their label now expects the band to live up to their old recording contract and deliver new music to them. The band has now threatened to stop performing under their contract unless Atlantic records makes significant changes. Atlantic has said, “We'll see you in court.”

As Mötley Crüe preps for their CrueFest tour we find out that Pamela Anderson and the kids have moved back in with Tommy Lee. Tommy says, “It’s awesome, man. It’s definitely working. You can tell on the kids’ faces — they’re happy when we’re together.” Let’s hope those crazy lovebirds keep it together this time. If not for the kids sake ... at least for another video release.

Pye Dubois, who is the lyricist for Max Webster, collaborated on this song with Neil Peart

During the first instrumental section of this song, the time signature changes to 7/8. The unusual choice in time signature is consistent with other songs by Rush.

This song was used in an episode of Cartoon Network's Futurama when Fry plays a video game while listening to his "All Rush Mixtape."

This is used in the movie Waterboy during the final game.

In a Family Guy clip, Chester Cheetah is seen snorting Cheetos while listening to this song. After he finishes, he yells, "There is no f--king drummer better than Neil Peart!"

The lyrics are loosely based on a character created by Mark Twain.

She won last year, but Katherine Heigl won't be joining the Emmy race this year. It's because she thinks the part on ``Grey's Anatomy'' that was written for her this season wasn't worth an award. This was the first North American hit for Genesis.

At the time their music was attracting mainly male audiences, almost 95% in fact. This song was written specifically to redress the balance.

This was one of the first songs all 3 members of Genesis helped write. Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford wrote most of the album. Phil Collins was not yet a prolific writer.

Peter Gabriel left the band 3 years before this was released. The success of this song answered questions about whether or not the band could survive without him.

The album title reflects the 3 members who were left after Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hacket left the band. This was the first single released with the lineup of Collins, Rutherford, and Banks.

It is ... Follow You Follow Me ... by Genesis.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

This is one of many early Springsteen songs featuring cars. Springsteen wrote this to energize his live shows and balance off the ballads on The River.

Junior Johnson is mentioned in the second verse. He was a NASCAR racer in the '50s and early '60s before becoming a championship car owner.

Springsteen's first car was a '57 Chevy with orange flames painted on the hood.

A photo in the program for the Born In The U.S.A. tour shows Springsteen at the Cadillac Ranch.

The Cadillac Ranch is a collection of 10 Cadillacs buried hood-first in a wheat field near Amarillo, Texas. Visitors are allowed to add graffiti to the cars, which are considered works of art.

It is ... Cadillac Ranch ... by Bruce Springsteen.
