A new version of the slasher flick ``Prom Night'' has opened at number-one. This time Brittany Snow plays the teen who's stalked by a psycho killer. It brought in nearly 23 million dollars this weekend. Another new movie opened in second this weekend. It's the cop drama ``Street Kings,'' starring Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker. ``21'' drops to third-place, followed by ``Nim's Island'' and ``Leatherheads.''

Actors, relatives and politicians gathered at a church in Los Angeles to mourn Charlton Heston, one of the last lions of Old Hollywood. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former U-S first lady Nancy Reagan, Tom Selleck and director Oliver Stone were among the 300 people who attended Saturday's funeral. Heston died at his home April 5th at age 84, with his wife at his side. He'd been battling Alzheimer's disease.

Elisabeth Rohm of `Law & Order' fame is a mom for the first time. The 34-year-old actress and her fiance, entrepreneur Ron Wooster, welcomed a baby girl named Easton August Anthony in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. Rohm portrayed assistant district attorney Serena Southerlyn on `Law & Order' from 2001-2005.

In 1970, Stephen Stills broke his wrist in a car accident. He drove into a parked vehicle while watching a police patrol car in his rear-view mirror.

In 1980, Bruce Springsteen's ``Born to Run'' was named New Jersey's official song.

Also on this date in 1980, the first rock videocassette, a concert by Gary Numan, was released.

In 1983, Pete Farndon, bass guitarist with the Pretenders, died of a drug overdose at his home in England. He was 30.

Def Leppard have been forced to postpone some eastern Canadian concerts. Joe Elliott and Phil Collen came down with a virus - they thought it was pneumonia at first, but it's not. And to add injury to illness, Rick Allen is laid up and can't drum because he threw his back out.

Queen’s Brian May has officially succeeded former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife, Cherie, as the chancellor of John Moores University in Liverpool. May’s appointment comes less than a year after he successfully completed an astrophysics PhD which he abandoned in the 1970s to pursue his music career. Dr. May will represent the University on special occasions. Brian May was awarded his PhD last August for a 48,000 word thesis, entitled, A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud.

Billy Idol will release the fourth compilation album of his career in July. This latest effort is called “Idolize Yourself,” and Idol writes on his MySpace page that the disc will be rounded out by three new songs -- "John Wayne," "New Future Weapon" and "Fractured." Idol adds that he plans to hit the road this summer.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

Desmond Child helped write this along with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. He was brought in by the record company to give Bon Jovi a more commercial sound. Among others, Child has written hits for Cher, Aerosmith, and Ricky Martin.

This was the first big hit for Bon Jovi, but they did have a minor hit, “Runaway,” 2 years earlier.

At one point, this was intended for Loverboy. Bon Jovi and Sambora started out writing it for them, but liked it so much they kept it for themselves.

This was the first Bon Jovi song to get played on MTV.

The follow-up single, "Livin' On A Prayer," was also a #1 hit.

Jon Bon Jovi dated actress Diane Lane in the mid-'80s, and there are rumors that she was the inspiration for this song, but no confirmation.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris doesn't really want Britney Spears to come back to the set of ``How I Met Your Mother.'' It's nothing personal. Harris says he's in the minority that believes his show does not need stunt casting to succeed. Spears did a cameo on the March 24th episode, which led to the show's biggest ratings yet. Harris says he's a real fan of the show's content and he hope it's not messed up by a desire to grab more viewers.

There was an audible gasp on ``American Idol'' last night when Michael Johns was eliminated. Johns says he was surprised, too. He had sung Aerosmith's ``Dream On'' this week and he says if there's a song to go out on, that's not a bad one. It was the first time Johns was in the bottom three. Ryan Seacrest says 31- (m) million votes were cast this week, the highest this season. As for ``Idol Gives Back,'' 60 million dollars have been raised so far.

It was a pretty sorry-looking Immunity Idol -- but it fooled Jason. Earlier this season on ``Survivor,'' Ozzy found the Hidden Immunity Idol and left a fake one in its place. Jason gave it to Eliza, who tried to play it during the Tribal Council. Host Jeff Probst tossed it in the fire and Ozzy got some laughs when he said he worked so hard on it. The phoney Immunity Idol was little more than a sharpened stick. Without the Idol's protection, Eliza was voted off the show.

In 1965, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones shared the bill at the ``New Musical Express Poll Winners' Concert'' in London.

In 1970, Paul McCartney announced what he called a temporary break with the Beatles, which proved to be permanent.

Also in 1970, guitarist and vocalist Peter Green, one of the founders of Fleetwood Mac, announced he was leaving the group to follow his religious beliefs.

In 1981, Eddie Van Halen married actress Valerie Bertinelli.

In 1997, Paul McCartney gave a free rooftop concert in London, playing two songs from his soon-to-be-released album for a documentary about the album. It brought back memories of the Beatles' final rooftop concert in 1969.

A Led Zeppelin fan bid more than 18-hundred dollars for the first two rows of seats on the first run of the new Led Zeppelin Roller Coaster at the Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Cindy Ennis liked the idea of being so close to the front of the ride, and being the first at something. The money will go to a local charity. Hard Rock Park will celebrate its opening this June with special performances by the Eagles and the Moody Blues.

There's word Sir Paul McCartney is set to announce details of a massive world tour taking in Britain, Australia, USA and Canada. Reports have The Beatles legend starting the tour this fall and will be using the dates to put the messy divorce with Heather Mills behind him. Final details will be confirmed in May.

"Nostradamus," the highly anticipated new album from metal gods Judas Priest, has finally been given a release date. The album will be released June 14th. According to guitarist K.K. Downing, the album contains 18 songs and clocks in at over an hour and a half.

Classic Rock Song Facts: (Weekdays at 1:20pm)

It's all about cheating and someone who isn't going to put up with it anymore.

Clapton added some new members to his band before recording this, including Albert King on guitar and Gary Brooker, formerly of Procol Harum, on keyboards.

A month after this was released, Clapton developed severe ulcers and almost died. Years of alcohol and pain killers were responsible.

Paris Hilton's 18-year-old brother can't drive for a year. Barron Hilton is losing his licence after pleading guilty to drunk driving and having a fake I-D.

Walt Disney Studios says starting next year, all of its Pixar animated movies will be released in 3-D. The studio says the endeavor begins next May with the film ``Up.'' It's about an elderly man who embarks on a South American adventure.

Fans of Abby and Luka -- grab your tissues. ``E-R'' actress Maura Tierney says they are going to make viewers cry so hard this season. The series is back tonight with its first fresh episode since the writers' strike ended.

Also on the tube tonight ... ``The Office'' returns ... following “Idol Gives Back” last night, “American Idol” casts off another contestant ... and PGTV features playoff hockey with the Bruins and Canadians at 4 ... and the Flames try to take their second win out of San Jose starting at 7.

In 1962, Stuart Sutcliffe, the Beatles' original bass guitarist, died at 21 following a brain hemorrhage in Hamburg, West Germany.

In 1970, the progressive rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer was formed.

Also on this date in 1970, Doors lead singer Jim Morrison offered to display his genitals to a Boston audience. The group's keyboardist, Ray Manzarek, physically removed Morrison from the stage.

In 1996, an Oasis concert ended abruptly in Vancouver shortly after it began when the British rock band walked off stage. Guitarist Noel Gallagher had been hit in the eye with a coin and his brother Liam was struck in the head by a shoe. Extra police were called in, but the fans left peacefully.

A winery down in the Okanagan Valley is teaming up with the Rolling Stones - but they're not making music, they're making icewine. Ex Nihilo Vineyards, north of Kelowna, will be producing a limited release of a Rolling Stones icewine. Only 222 cases of the sweet dessert wine will be released May 1, priced at $125 a bottle. Each bottle will be numbered and the label will feature the classic Rolling Stones red tongue logo. The wine is also accompanied by a limited edition collectors' book.

Sir Elton John helped raise a massive $5 million for Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign at a fundraising gig in New York last night. Elton performed hits like ‘Candle In The Wind’, ‘Your Song’ and ‘Benny and the Jets’ at the 5,000 capacity show at the Radio City Music Hall. Tickets for the event were sold at a discretionary amount to those attending, with a maximum price being just under $5000.

A pair of tribute concerts are being planned to honor Canadian guitar great Jeff Healey, who died March 2 of cancer. Jeff Healey's backup band “Jazz Wizards” will open the first tribute concert May 3. Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan and Cream vocalist and bass player Jack Bruce will also appear during the evening that will focus on Healey's contribution to rock. The second event, to be held May 4, will be for lovers of Healey's jazz career.
