  • Kids Meet Pros
    Three members of the BC Lions made their way to Prince George for the first ever Practice with the Pros camp on Saturday. 60 youngsters learned the basics from the Lions. Gino Guidugli is one of the Lions quaterbacks and talks about getting a chance to work with the local kids....pgtvnews/0511gino08 Local organizers plan to have the Lions come back next year and make this an annual event.

  • Chetwynd Woman Murdered
    A Chetwynd woman found dead earlier this week was just days away from her 47th birthday. Chetwynd RCMP found 46 year old Annie Lenore Davis' body on Tuesday night on Jackfish Lake Road and have since ruled it a homicide. Constable Craig Douglass says she hadn't been seen alive since almost a month ago on April 16th:pgtvnews/0511craig08Police are asking anyone who has seen her alive since then or who knows something about her disappearance to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

  • Relay Record Smashed
    It was a record-breaking year for Prince George's Relay for Life for the Canadian Cancer Society. The Drive and PGTV joined about 24 hundred participants braving the cooler conditions to raise a record breaking 450 thousand dollars for cancer research. The 16th annual event was a bit cooler, and remains the only full 24 hour event across the country. The top team was Johnny's walkers, who raised just over 40 thousand dollars and the top individual was Brian Brownridge at 19 thousand.

  • Career Information Fair Popular
    The local Forestry workers' union is calling yesterday's Information Fair at the Civic Centre a success. Dozens of potentially out of work forestry employees were in Prince George seeking advice from service providers about resources for alternate careers. Barbara Old, with the College of New Caledonia's Continuing Ed, says there are a lot of barriers to those seeking a different career stream.pgtvnews/0511old08Officials said there were a surprising number of workers there who are still employed, but being proactive about the process.

  • Crash Claims Vanderhoof Man
    A 35 year old man from Vanderhoof is dead after a single vehicle crash there last night. Vanderhoof RCMP say it happened in the early evening hours on Northside road, but aren't releasing any other details. The man's name is not being released and police are continuing their investigation.

  • Ag Students Head To City
    Post-secondary students from across the Province are getting hands-on agriculture experience this Summer. 16 students are set to work alongside regional agrologists in everything from collecting data on farmland values to assessing wildlife damage to crops.A three-day orientation session wrapped up Friday; the Students will now take up their placements in a number of BC comunities, including Prince George.

  • Fraser Report Card Released
    Mackenzie secondary school is one of 13 high schools in B.C. getting high grades from the Fraser Institute... The latest report card shows the schools are rebutting the stereotype that successful schools are only located in wealthy or more educated communities. In Prince George, the highest ranking schools were Cedars Christian, which placed 110th out of 3 hundred in the province and Valemount, which was ranked at 155th.

    Everything is nearly set for the annual 24 hour Relay for Life in Prince George.

  • Spirit Square Funding for PG (VIDEO)
    The provincial government is providing a half million dollars to assist in the redevelopment of the lawn in front of Prince George's City Hall.

  • Medical School Grads (VIDEO)
    23 Students are making history by being the first to graduate from the Northern Medical program.

  • Reduce Carbon Tax - Northern Municipalities (VIDEO)
    With the exception of one city, members of the North Central Municipal Association voted in favour of seeking relief from the carbon tax. However it appears the appeal is falling on deaf ears.

  • Infrastructure Grants for Cameron St. Bridge (VIDEO)
    Mayor Colin Kinsley says another one of his goals as Mayor is complete with an infrastructure funding announcement for the Cameron St. Bridge.

  • Province Supports Forest Workers (VIDEO)
    The Premier used the North Central Municipal Association to announce millions of dollars of dollars in funding for forestry workers impacted by the industry downturn. Nearly 130 million dollars in aid was announced by Gordon Campbell.

  • UNBC makes a plea for help (VIDEO)
    UNBC Athletics is looking for your help in a couple of ways. It's asking the public to come forward in support of the school's soccer and basketball programs.

  • Premier says carbon tax stays
    Premier Gordon Campbell says government will not change the carbon tax. Campbell says the tax will give municipalities a great number of opportunities. pgtvnews/050908gordo Members of the North Central Municipal Association voted to send seven seperate resolutions to government, all seeking relief to the carbon tax.

  • Cameron Street Bridge project proceeds
    The Cameron Street Bridge project is a go. Mayor Colin Kinsley says the federal and provincial governments have signed off on the environmental assessment and have provided two million dollars in funding. pgtvnews/050908kinsley

  • Northern Medical Program grads
    The first group of students enrolled in the Northern Medical Program have completed their studies. Of the 23 graduates, 6 will stay in prince george to continue on with family medicine. The program, which started in 2004, has essentially doubled the number of doctors graduating in this province each year. They'll mark the historic accomplishment with a ceremony tomorrow.

  • The Premier Addresses NCMA
    Premier Gordon Campbell pays a visit to Prince George today. The Premier gives a keynote address at the NCMA convention at the Civic Centre at 2 this afternoon. At 3:30 Campbell joins Mayor Colin Kinsley outside City Hall to announce provincial support for a community project.
