Tonight - everyone is  welcome to join parents and students to attend the 20th Annual School District No. 57 Public Speaking Contest, to be held at 7 pm in Vanier Hall at Prince George Secondary School. Admission is FREE. You will have the opportunity to hear the top three speakers in grade 8 to 12, presenting three to seven minutes speeches on a wide variety of topics. Monetary and certificate awards will be presented to First, Second, and Third place winners. Winners of the 10th Annual School District No. 57 Writing Contest will be announced and awarded during the evening.

The Prince George Symphony Orchestra -has partnered with the Prince George Communities in Bloom to offer gardeners an opportunity to beautify our city while supporting the Symphony through a special fundraising activity.There are 12 luscious varieties available, all very hardy. They are very easy plants to take care of. The plants will winter-over in the Prince George area and, with a little sun and water, will bloom prolifically. May 15th -The Prince George Community Foundation proudly presents the Northern  Stars Concert. This is an evening of dance, music and drama highlighting performances by the selected provincial delegates from The Prince George Dance Festival, The Prince George and District Music Festival and The Prince George Speech Arts and Drama Festival. These performers will be heading to Burnaby at the end of May to participate in the B.C. Performing Arts Festival. This is an opportunity for the community to see these young artists at their best. The concert is at The Prince George Playhouse. Doors open at 6:15 and the performances begin at 7:00. Admission is by donation.


May 18th & 19th - Huble Homestead 's Spring Antique Show-This is a long-weekend event featuring antiques and is a great opportunity to see artifacts from our collection that aren't normally on display, tour the historic site, and purchase a 2008 membership.  As always, kids can do crafts, play games and decorate the maypole.

The 2nd Annual Railway Blues Festival - The Festival takes place Saturday, June 21, 2008. The organizers are resurrecting the picture perfect boxcar and railway setting and improving the covered seating and band shell.
