Happy New Year!

*Prince George Cougars - host Tri-City Americans at C.N.Centre Tonight and Saturday at 7pm. Moose Jaw is here next Tuesday. Cats on the road next week at Everett Friday,Kelowna on Saturday and Seattle on Sunday.

*Prince George Spruce Kings - play in Merritt Tonight and Penticton on Saturday. Kings play at Quesnel on Friday January 9th and return home to host Westside Warriors on Saturday January 10th at 7pm and Sunday January 11th at 3pm at the Coliseum.

*Saturday /Sunday- Cariboo Midget Cougars on the road at Valley West Hawks at the North Surrey Arena.Saturday -6:00 pm.Sunday -9:15 am.

Saturday  & Sunday and again on Sat & Sun January 10 & 11th -The Lions Clubs of Prince George will be receiving Christmas trees at the CN Centre for cleaning and stacking. These trees will be prepared for chipping. Due to the small number of natural trees being used today, there will NOT be any door-to-door pickup this year. This service provided by the Prince George Lions Clubs.

January- The next session for Studio Classes starts in January.Have a budding artist in the family.How about a gift certificate for a class?We are offering classes for children from 2 - 18 years of age and our adult classes are always quick to fill.Each session for children runs 8 weeks, with the adult classes running for a weekend or up till 8 weeks .There is something for everyone, from those who have never lifted a paintbrush to those of you who have been working at it for years.Sound like fun?For more information contact Two Rivers Gallery.

The Prince George Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery is well underway. The Show Home is open from noon until 6pm everyday and at 11am on weekends and holidays. Tickets are available at the house or from various retail locations around the city including Wal-Mart in PrinceGeorge, the Pine Centre Mall kiosk, Spruceland News, Hart Drugs, Evergreen Pharmacy and the Spruce Kings office. Tickets can also be purchased by residents of British Columbia over the phone 24 hours a day by calling 250-962-I-WIN (4946) or 1-888-962-I-WIN.Other early bird prizes leading up to the grand prize of this year's Show Home include gift cards from Wal-Mart and Home Depot, a high definition television from the Northern Hardware, a Las Vegas get-away, Disney Family Vacation and a Canucks Weekend as well three more draws for season tickets. Show Home Lottery Tickets are available at various locations around town and are selling quickly.With only 6,999 tickets, the odds are one of the best when it comes to a lottery purse worth over $400,000 with all the prizes available this year.The grand prize is a $375,000 house located in the Aberdeen Glen Subdivision on Links Drive.The Show Home is open for viewing daily and already hundreds of people have taken the tour.

January 5th to March 9th (Mondays)-Winter Indoor Ultimate Frisbee League. Organized by Prince George Disc Sports. Monday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. at the UNBC Northern Sports Centre (turf surface). Learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee, the world's fastest growing sport. Ultimate is non-contact, co-ed, and combines the athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing of football and the breakout action of basketball. Newcomers are welcome and will enjoy the emphasis on spirit and sportsmanship over competitive play. January 9th and 10th- UNBC T-Wolves Hoops. The T-Wolves travel to Douglas College for 2 games.

Saturday/Sunday January 10th & 11th -Cariboo Cougars host the Vancouver Canadians at Kin 1. Saturday at 7:15 pm. Sunday 9:45 am

Tuesday January 13th-Prince George Cougars host their 3rd Annual “Open House” from 5:00pm-6:00pm.The CN Centre will be open to the general public and fans will have an opportunity to go behind the scenes of the arena… from the Cougars usually private dressing room, to Owner Rick Brodsky, General Manager Dallas Thompson and Business Manager Brandi Brodsky’s offices where they will be available to chat. Also, all players and coaches will be in the dressing room to sign autographs and pose for pictures.The Cougars Bus will be available for viewing, and fans will have a chance to meet Rowdy Cat. Back by popular demand Cougars Broadcaster Ron St. Clair will be located in the broadcast booth, allowing fans to see the “ins and outs” of covering a Cougars game.The City will also display the Zamboni, and fans will have the chance to see themselves projected on the score clock. Snacks will be provided by Eurest Food Services, the official food supplier of the CN Centre.

January 16th  is Minor Sports Night as the Cougars take on the Kelowna Rockets. The group to sell the most tickets to Minor Sports Night will win the opportunity to have select Cougars join them at one of their practices. Local teams and athletic groups are encouraged to bring their families, friends and classmates to the game.That night fans can also celebrate Jersey Night. All fans are invited to wear their favourite jersey for the chance to win a digital camera courtesy of Canadian Tire. Group ticket forms are available at the Cougars office during weekdays and The Cougar Store on game nights as well as on the website at www.pgcougars. com.

Friday January 16th, 2009 - Fundraising Dinner and Dance for the PGYSA Pro Touch Soccer Academy. The dance is from 8:00pm-1:00 am, with a midnight lunch,(actually served about 11:00 pm) at the Hart Community Center. Tickets are available from each of the players and also at PGYSA. Cost is $15.00 per person with the DJ services of PG Entertainment. The money goes toward travel costs as they are planning a couple trips in 2009.

January 24th - Yalenka Ukrainian Dancers 30th Annual Malanka New Year's Dinner & Dance  at the Hart Community Centre. There's 2 live bands and great food. Tickets at  Studio 2880 - $35.00 for adults , youth 5-12 yrs- $15.00; kids -$5.00.
